Content

The skills learning pathway is bound up in the Dance Technique and Musical Theatre domains. Besides the skills learning pathway, the practical learning pathway extends throughout the degree programme. The theoretical learning pathway forms part of the Educational Theory domain amongst others; supporting theory is also presented to students in the other domains too. The reflection pathway is embedded in the portfolio, while the projects constitute the integration pathway.

Dance Technique: in this domain, students focus on acquiring the dance-related domain components.

Musical Theatre: in this domain, students focus on acquiring the musical-theatre-related domain components.

Educational Theory: students familiarise themselves with educational practice and are introduced to the pedagogical, didactic and methodical aspects of dance instruction. Students learn about the theoretical background of art and the performing arts in this domain too. In step 9, this domain is combined with the Theatre Theory domain in the Bachelor of Dance degree programme.

Educational Practical: in this domain, students attend classes and observe the Dance instructor. They also learn to teach independently, increasing their awareness of both the practice of teaching and the lesson structure. Students are also introduced to their future field of work in this domain. Students gain practical experience via performance placements, at a level appropriate to the study phase in question. In step 9, this domain is combined with the Theatre Practical domain in the Bachelor of Dance degree programme.
