Content

Thesis Framework
The student starts working on the thesis in the second year by formulating a ThesisFramework in accordance with developments within and plans for the practical investigations. This conceptual framework is developed by collecting, studying and reflecting upon relevant sources. The concept development is monitored by group feedback sessions. The theory lecturer monitors the research and writing process.

The instructional modes are individual, intervision, supervision. Active attendance and participation are mandatory to receive a total of 5 EC (in combination with Thesis Draft), which include Research Process and Concept.

Thesis Draft
The thesis is a dossier with texts and images, well designed and harmonising with the student’s own work, so that the structure and coherence of the content are evident. The texts may have various and alternating forms. The student’s own texts may be work descriptions, essays, statements, poetic texts or commentaries. Texts by other people must be commented upon. Elements from media and art history may be part of the thesis and must be based on a study of the relevant literature or other sources. However, these should not be leading articles, nor should they determine the tone of the thesis.

The reflections refer to: working method, sources of inspiration, artistic goals, theoretical starting points, development of the work, relation to the spectator, type of artistic calling.
The form of the thesis is open (in consultation with the lecturer: paper, PDF, website, CD-ROM, DVD, film, etc.), but must always contain the student’s own text and is oriented toward reflection and theory. The theory lecturer monitors the research and writing process.
The instructional modes are individual, intervision, supervision. Active attendance and participation are mandatory to receive a total of 5 EC (in combination with Thesis Framework) which include Research Process and Concept.
