Learning outcomes

1. Student can calculate and draw the forces involved and the required reinforcement for floors with linear and tapered supports;
2. Student can recognise the phenomena of punching shear, calculate the required forces and reinforcement to prevent punching shear and draw them in a reinforcement drawing;
3. Student can calculate the forces involved for footing and brackets, and convert them into the required reinforcement depicted in a reinforcement drawing;
4. Student can calculate the forces involved for wall beams and convert them into the required reinforcement depicted in a reinforcement drawing.

Content

For Reinforced Concrete Structures, you often have to deal with a few typical phenomena as a constructor, such as material-related questions and highly technical questions. Examples are the maturity of concrete or a punching shear reinforcement for a column-floor connection and floors with linear and tapered supports or horizontal building elements.So-called wall beams are often made of concrete for civil-engineering structures, but also for architectural structures. These are covered in the minor, where you learn how to design them structurally and in calculation terms. Finally, footing and bracket structures are covered, plus the specific properties of and conditions for underwater concrete
