Content

This first academic portion of ‘Organisation and Entrepreneurship in Health Care’ aims at giving the students a wide view on the professional work field of physiotherapy. The intention is for the student to start forming a picture of how the health care system is put together, and what the ‘playing field’ of the physiotherapist is in the world of healthcare. All kinds of relevant aspects will be discussed, ranging from healthcare categories to the importance of professional organisations. The rights and obligations of healthcare workers and especially of physiotherapists will of course be discussed: what are you allowed to do as a therapist, what isn’t allowed? Given that physiotherapists deal with people who may have long-term illnesses or handicaps, in this block we will also take a look at healthcare legislation in the area of physiotherapy. To place physiotherapy in the proper historical perspective, we will start by providing information on the history of physiotherapy.
