Learning outcomes

For the courses Clinical 1, 2 and 3, the learning outcomes have been formulated based on the central CanMeds professional role, namely:

Medical Expert:

  • The student can operate as a starting professional in the development, implementation and evaluation of medical/relevant policy in both mono- and multidisciplinary teams and collaboration processes.
  • When contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of medical/relevant policy in mono- and multidisciplinary teams and collaboration processes, the student respects the policy choices of other professionals based on their own knowledge of that person's expertise.
  • Within the work placement organisation/position, the student can independently analyse logistics processes in the care chain and bottlenecks in the care process.

Content

Students are required to organize 7 clinical rotations of three weeks in the medical domain during the first two school years of the program to also acquire generalistic competences. At the moment that an identified patient problem is outside the scope of practice of the PA trainee he must be able to refer or consult in an adequate manner. After the internships, the student has demonstrated that he can perform a full consultation (medical history taking and physical examination) and reporting of patient problems at a level of independence under limited reactive supervision. The patient problems that can be selected are described by the course in the form of 7 Generalistic Entrustable Professional Activities (GEPAs) in the “Learning in practice” manual, as well as the requirements for internships.
