Content

Reflective practitioner and transferable skills:
 A reflective practitioner is a professional with the ability to use transferable skills, see figure below. Reflective practice is a way of improving individual and organizational effectiveness. Reflective practice consists of "mindful consideration of one’s actions" (Osterman, 1990 ) in which the reasons and assumptions that drive one’s behavior are thoughtfully reflected on in the interest of improving one’s professional effectiveness. Preferably, appropriate scientific theories are also part of the reflection. Thought and action are thus integrated through reflection. Osterman describes the process as a "challenging, focused, and critical assessment of one’s behavior as a means toward the development of one’s "craftmanship". The student will develop learning skills to allow autonomous learning and develop research skills to define and execute a small research project with the intention to act as a capstone assignment of the Core. The capstone assignment is focused on technical, economical, business and social aspects of the transition of a community to a sustainable community based on knowledge and understanding acquired in the previous modules of the CORE program.
