Learning outcomes
You visualise and present in groups the different types of blood cells and their function in the human immune system as the basis of immunology.
You know and recognise the morphology and function of the different white blood cells and correctly prepare and differentiate (dift) a blood smear according to the basic rules of haematology.
You draw up a work plan for performing the basic biochemical techniques SDS page and Western blot to determine a specific protein in blood and implement this work plan.
You process with a group of fellow students the results of the conducted research project from module 1.3.1 according to the applicable guidelines for data processing and data visualisation.

Content
This module introduces you to the immune system and the main cells and proteins (such as antibodies) that play a role in it. The immune system is important in your body, but you also use parts of the immune system in some important experiments in the lab. For example, you use antibodies to detect a protein in a Western blot. Therefore, you will not only learn about the immune system in the body, but also how to use immunology in biochemical techniques.
You will also continue with the research project from module 1.3.1. During this module, you will have a working lecture on data processing and data visualisation. During the tutorial, you will work with your own data to process and display it properly.
