Learning outcomes

The Process Technology 1 curriculum component covers the following components of the Chemical Engineering BOKS:

Knowledge:

Unit operations:

Being able to describe, draw and balance (mole and mass) single and multiple systems with and without reaction.

Reproduce separation methods and reaction systems.

Process engineering

Convert processes to block diagrams and PFDs.

Drawing PFDs and P&IDs

Statistics and Mathematics

Being able to convert units (mol to mass e.g.)

Skills:

Research skills and systematic problem solving

Working safely in a laboratory environment

Social and communication skills

This module has the following learning outcomes:

You prepare mass balances on single and multiple separation and reaction processes and evaluate them in mol and mass units.

You draw and interpret a PFD and P&ID.
