Content
All geographical regions will be treated: relevant non-western music will be discussed and played, some styles more than others. On the agenda are general ethno-musicological themes. The student will work on assignments related to music examples and texts. In addition, each student presents a musical phenomenon from the world with which they have a connection. In this way the students share their own specific (non-western) music knowledge. In the final (research) group assignment, the student links his own musicianship to a non-Western music concept, and presents the musical outcome to the class.
