Course: History of Non-Western Music credits: 1

Each geographic region is covered: relevant non-Western music is discussed and some styles are played. Attention is paid to general ethnomusicological themes. The student works on assignments related to music examples and lyrics. In addition, each student presents a musical phenomenon from the world with which they have a connection. In this way, the students share their own specific (non-Western) music knowledge. In the final (research) group assignment, the student links his own musicianship to a non-Western music concept, and presents the musical outcome to the class.
