This course consists of an individual main subject lesson in which the emphasis is on the individual craft and artistic development and coaching of the student. Furthermore, the following courses / lessons are strongly connected with this course:
- Hafabra theory
- Instrumentation
- Practicum

A lesson focused on conducting practice focuses on the development and integration of conducting technique, orchestral training, instrumentation, theory, literary knowledge, orchestral history, rehearsal techniques, receptive training and orchestral management.

The first year everything determines the further course of the study. A very comprehensive start is made with
1. Conducting technique
2. Instrument knowledge
3. Score forms
4. Receptive education
to be able to start instrumenting as soon as possible. Subsequently, weekly assignments for score study / instrumentation and orchestral training are discussed.

Guest lecturers are invited to give guest lectures on their own specialty. This can be; teachers, composers or arrangers, or other persons with a specialty who add value to the vocational training.

Master classes are organized in January (see study component "Projects, master classes and workshops") with nationally and internationally renowned musicians and ensembles. The differentiated offer offers the possibility to see the vocational training in a very broad perspective. The many facets that are highlighted per part of the day are all a complete whole.
