Content
A one-year course in which all instruments from the symphony orchestra are covered (the string group, the woodwind and the brass). The characteristics of the individual instruments are discussed, the operation, the range, the notation and the sound. If possible, players (students) are invited to demonstrate their instrument in class. Special techniques (such as sul ponticello playing at the strings or the use of mutes at the brass instruments) are demonstrated on the basis of score and listening examples or on the basis of visual material provided by the teacher. NB: The percussion is dealt with separately in the composition lessons of the first year.
