Learning outcomes
The student:
- has knowledge of the necessary regulations, legislation and work permits for wind turbines and wind farms;
- becomes aware of overall safety and demonstrates that he/she knows how to work safely on wind turbines on land and at sea;
- has different maintenance methods and can distinguish between the variables that need to be monitored in a wind turbine and wind farms;
- acquires knowledge about wind turbine and wind farm control strategies and can make choices regarding the wishes of the park owner, lifespan and power production;
- takes note of the methods of cleaning, maintenance, and inspection of the wind turbine blades to prevent corrosion.
Content
At the end of this module, the student will have knowledge of the necessary regulations, legislation, work permits for wind turbines and wind farms, maintenance requirements and methods, and approach and transition methods in the sector. The student becomes aware of the overall safety and familiarizes himself with which variables at wind turbines and farms need to be monitored for CBM (Condition Based Maintenance). The student acquires knowledge about control strategies (power production, wake mitigation, etc.) to increase the lifespan of wind turbines and how blades and turbines should be inspected, maintained, cleaned and repaired with regard to corrosion. The student demonstrates that he/she knows how to work safely on onshore wind turbines and wind turbines at sea and knows how, when and which different software tools and games to use.
