Learning outcomes

Level Deepening (semester 3-7): The student shows insight into the importance of design and theoretical research and experiment for the acquisition of knowledge and skills and succeeds in giving shape to this.

Interdisciplinary artistic research (Artistic Creation & Research and Reflection)
The student develops and initiates an interdisciplinary artistic process based on biographies and personal stories. This process employs various media, materials, and techniques, with a focus on research into sensory perception and experience. The student combines intuition and experimentation, seeing the unexpected and uncertain moments as valuable elements of the process, and creates work that offers meaning and new perspectives.
Collaboration and social engagement (Connecting with the Environment & Working in Practice)
The student collaborates with students from various disciplines at both the Minerva Academy and the Prins Claus Conservatorium. This collaboration fosters a rich exchange of knowledge, perspectives, and skills that enhances the work process. The student reflects on the role of art in society and incorporates societal issues and personal stories into their work, giving the artistic output broader social and ecological significance.
Reflection and experimentation in the work process (Research and Reflection & Artistic Creation)
The student uses reflection and experimentation as central elements in the work process. The project enables the student to experiment with various research methods and artistic approaches, utilizing uncertainties and the unknown to create new forms of artistic expression. The student critically reflects on the process of creating work, the importance of biographies, and translating personal experiences into shared art forms.
Positioning as a maker (Connecting with the Environment & Working in Practice)
The student develops a conscious artistic positioning within the context of the Out There project. This involves situating themselves within the broader societal and artistic context, researching the impact of their work on society. The student develops their own voice and meaning in the work process by positioning themselves relative to the world and other participants, while acknowledging the ethical responsibility of their work.
Communication and participation in the artistic discourse (Working in Practice & Connecting with the Environment)
The student investigates and experiments with different forms of presentation and communication, both within the context of the Out There project and towards a wider audience. Emphasis is placed on connecting the work with its environment through communication strategies that consider the perspectives of both participants and the audience. The student adjusts communication strategies based on the specific contexts and themes addressed within the project.
Sensory and Conceptual exploration (Artistic Creation & Research and Reflection)
The student investigates the influence of sensory experience and space on the perception of reality in the Out There project. Experiments with different senses, such as sound, color, space, and movement, help the student forge a deeper connection between personal experiences and shared artistic output. This experimental approach allows the student to redefine conceptual frameworks and create work that integrates various sensory experiences.
Social relevance and ethical awareness (Connecting with the Environment & Research and Reflection)
The student links the artistic experience and work process to important societal and ecological issues by connecting their personal experiences and stories to broader social and cultural themes. The student critically reflects on the ethical dimensions of the project, such as the impact of art on collective imagination and the responsibility it entails. The work carries deeper social relevance and is presented with an awareness of its potential influence on both the creator and society.

Content

Out There is a transdisciplinary project between students from the Minerva Academy and the Prins Claus Conservatoire. It focuses on the multiple sensory ways in which people experience reality. In Out There, biographies (stories) serve as the foundation for encounters between participants and various art disciplines. The project provides a platform for rethinking art disciplines and the roles within them, while encouraging the exploration of new possibilities for collaboration and creation. Participants are challenged to share their perspectives and work together to develop artworks that reflect the rich complexity of human experience. The result of this process is a story that will eventually be shared with the world, as a try-out of the collective creations and discoveries. Out There emphasizes collaboration between art forms, with the ambition of achieving unexpected results and highlighting the value of diversity in the creative process.
