Learning outcomes

After completing the course, you can:
  1. Pose an exact and answerable research question (hypothesis).
  2. Translate a research question into an experiment and carry out the necessary measurements to answer the research question.
  3. Design a useable interface (web-based dashboard) to disclose research data and answer a research question.
  4. Implement appropriate data(base) technologies given data sources.
  5. Collaborate with team members to organize the project and carry out the practical work.
  6. Write a scientific article about the research

Content

The objective of this research project is to enhance your comprehension of the Data Science domain, particularly in relation to personal health. To achieve this, health-related data will be visualized to answer health-related research questions. You will apply fundamental data transformation and munging techniques to pre-process the data for visualization. Additionally, the project aims to reinforce the programming concepts taught in the preparatory course while teaching you the principles of good UI design.

The project's secondary objective is to reinforce the concepts of the Scientific Method (hypothesis-experiment-analysis-conclusion/iteration) and scientific writing and reasoning. You're going to identify a personal health related domain you are interested in, study the state of the scientific literature in the field, pose a realistic research question and hypothesis and design and carry out an experiment.
