Learning outcomes

This module has the following learning outcomes:

You perform an organic synthesis experiment safely and make the required product specifying purity and reaction efficiency.

You apply process technology concepts such as reactor science and separation technology to scale-up the laboratory synthesis to production scale.

You work with document versions to ensure optimal cooperation within the project group according to plan and content.

You cooperate professionally within a group, process feedback, reflect on your functioning and professional development and evaluate the group process.

Content

In the factory design module, you will scale up a synthesis from lab scale to factory scale in project form. You perform the synthesis yourself in the lab as a starting point for the factory design. Later, you will perform the synthesis again to verify and/or optimise choices within your factory design. The project days are full days in which you, as a project group, have to deliver a large number of documents per project day, with the content getting more and more detailed as the block progresses. The documents are provided with feedback by the lecturer after each project day. At the end of the project, you compile all documents into a report.

The content of the project uses knowledge from previous subjects.
