Content
PT-care 2 consists of 2 courses of 5 EC that are interwoven with each other. Course 1: MSK upper extremity & cervical spine and course 2: skills and integration.
This course concerns MSK upper extremity & cervical spine and covers the more theoretical part of PT-care 2.
Musculoskeletal conditions of the upper extremity and the cervical spine are very common problems in the daily practice of physiotherapy. During this course the student must be able to show having sufficient anatomical (including living anatomy), medical-biological, behavioural-communicative and physiotherapeutic knowledge related to the upper extremity and the cervical spine. The student should be able to apply this knowledge to patients with musculoskeletal problems of the upper extremity and the cervical spine, for purposes of physiotherapeutic assessment and treatment. The theoretical background will be assessed with a written theory exam.
Anatomy in PT-care 2 is a course designed for practice. It comprises identifying, localising, palpating and drawing bony structures, as well as origin and attachment of muscles, muscle bellies, ligaments and tendons of the spinal column and the upper extremity. In this course we will discuss and test the basic anatomic knowledge and skills that we use as physiotherapists. For each student, the Anatomy classes are offered for at least one period in the international classroom where students from the regular and 3-year programme have classes together with international students. This course delves deeper into the materials of Anatomy 1 (Living) and will be completed with a theoretical multiple choice exam.
