Learning outcomes

The student,
  • Visualizes the energy flows in an installation with variable demand for heat, cold and power by building a calculation model for a stationary situation
  • Measures the energy flows in an installation and analyses the obtained data to quantify energy losses
  • Generates concept solutions (for example with a PFD), places them in the context of the challenges in the energy transition, and assesses the solution by calculating it at the concept level
  • Dimensions a solution to a level agreed with the client
  • Organizes and carries out a project according to a suitable method in which components are divided and connected, while each member of the project group maintains an overview of the project and has a clear responsibility
  • Finds out whether the actual image of the stakeholders (client and manager) corresponds with their image of progress, cooperation, communication, and end results
  • Collects feedback regarding the intended and performed tasks and then reflects on this

Content

During this project, an energy system in the process industry or installation technology is designed or optimized to achieve energy savings. The project is preferably carried out for an external client, ultimately requiring an advisory report to be delivered with detailed improvement proposals.
