Learning outcomes
The student:
- oversees the consequences of the (project) planning on individual performance.
- translates the assignment into main and sub-questions, choosing a methodology to reach a solution.
- constructs a solution for the given problem based on examples from the field and justifies the choices made in a presentation.
- applies fundamental calculations and basic materials knowledge to a construction, using this to justify and document choices for sizing, material selection, and purchased parts in a technical dossier.
- converts a conceptual idea into a 3D model and demonstrates its operation with a proof-of-principle.
- collects feedback on their own performance and the work produced concerning the project goals, adjusts their actions if necessary, and articulates this in a performance review.
- describes their view of the program and the breadth of the field, and examines whether this aligns with their future aspirations, incorporating the experiences gained during the project.
Content
In this module, students work on a real-world project provided by part-time students. The students employ a project-based methodological approach, with planning being a key component. They construct a solution for the given problem and apply calculations and materials knowledge to justify their choices. This concept is then converted into a 3D model, and a proof-of-principle is created.
