Learning outcomes
This module has the following learning outcomes:
- You will draw up and carry out a research plan, both independently and as part of a team, and apply a research strategy whilst taking into account the specific safety, environmental, hygiene and health and safety aspects.
- You analyse, interpret and evaluate research results you have obtained yourself, and report and present the results through, amongst other things, progress meetings, presentations and a written professional assignment.
- You proactively seek feedback from your supervisor on your performance in relation to each competence and, where necessary, identify areas for improvement to guide your own performance and development. You can use this for Project 3.
- You describe how, during your studies, you have shared knowledge about the programme (for example, with prospective students) as part of your professional engagement.
- You are aware of the competences you have developed by linking them to professional practice; you can recognise organisational structures and cultures and act appropriately in response; you demonstrate an understanding of the relevant professional field and the labour market; and you learn how to apply for jobs through job application training.
Content
In this module, you will carry out a practice-oriented project in which you apply medical diagnostic techniques within a realistic professional setting. You will carry out a project at Hanze University, for example as part of one of the KCBBE’s research projects, or you will visit an external diagnostic laboratory, such as the UMCG or Certe. You will work on a medical biology research project, in which you will design, carry out and account for your research both independently and as part of a team. You will apply various laboratory techniques, work with professional equipment and carry out the analyses in accordance with applicable quality, safety and environmental standards.
You will learn to draw up a work plan, translate research questions into measurable tests, and critically analyse research results, underpinning them with relevant theory.
During the project, you will develop your research skills, learn to handle data and results with care, and become familiar with the specific working methods, responsibilities and professional ethics within the field of medical diagnostics.
Organisation and Management aims to raise your awareness of the professional field. It does this by teaching you to bridge the gap between the competences acquired during the programme and real-world practice in the workplace. For example: by taking another close look at the competences (knowledge, skills, attitude). But also by providing insight into organisational structures and cultures (how do you adapt within an organisation?). Through labour market orientation (exploring the market and guest speakers from the field) and through job application training, you will start to focus on your career.
