  • Under supervision, you will design experiments, carry them out independently and systematically, and generate reproducible and reliable results that can be used to answer a practice-oriented research question within the Applied Science domain.
  • You operate within the framework of a management system, ensuring that your own work complies with applicable procedures and contributes to safeguarding quality, safety and compliance with legislation and regulations within an organisation in the Applied Science domain.
  • You gain a thorough understanding of the client’s problems and/or requirements and describe the context, enabling you to contribute to proposing a possible course of action within the field of Applied Science.
  • Upon request, you share your own knowledge and skills with others within the field of Applied Science, enabling them to gain a basic understanding of the use of relevant methods, equipment and tasks.
  • You work in a structured and systematic manner with others on a project within a limited, open project framework in the field of Applied Science.

Content

To prepare you for professional practice, the programme includes a work placement. The aim of this work placement is to prepare you for the professional working environment. The focus of the work placement is on learning to function in the professional field by carrying out a work placement assignment. You will undertake your placement at a placement organisation, such as a company, hospital, university, research institute, etc. You will work under the supervision of a placement supervisor. The placement is worth 30 EC, during which you will work on developing your final-year competencies.

For information on graduation, the Brightspace course ‘Internship and Graduation’ is available. OnStage is used as the administration system.

The internship lasts 20 weeks. You will begin by drawing up a plan of action, carry out the work, and conclude the internship with a portfolio and a poster presentation. The portfolio comprises set and optional components, through which you demonstrate your competences. Halfway through the placement period, an interim evaluation will be scheduled with you, your placement supervisor and your contact lecturer.

During the placement period, review sessions will be organised to assist you with the placement process, the portfolio and the poster presentation.
