Learning outcomes

Project 2
V&D_1) The student can analyse and integrate trends and developments based on research, and translate these into substantiated scenarios and a future-oriented, user-centered vision for an area. [Initiate, Design, Research]
V&D_2) The student can formulate and evaluate a substantiated strategy based on developed scenarios and a vision, in which choices and positions are justified and stakeholders and feasibility are taken into account. [Initiate, Research]
V&D_3) The student can translate a strategy into a concrete and integrated spatial design that incorporates future-proofing, liveability, and usability, and communicate this design clearly and purposefully to both professionals and a broader audience. [Design, Communicate]
V&D_4) The student can evaluate design choices and outcomes based on evidence in terms of alignment with user needs and future-proofing, and formulate improvements and next steps accordingly. [Design]
V&D_5) The student collaborates constructively, takes (shared) responsibility for process (contributing to knowledge development, opinion-forming, and decision-making) and outcomes, and uses (familiar) methods to develop supported products based on consensus within a complex practical context and under coaching supervision. [Communicate]

Portfolio 2
V&D_6) The student can recognise and apply various theoretical and practice-based methods within Research through Design, and systematically analyse relevant issues. [Research]
V&D_7) The student can translate research results into concepts and visualisations through a substantiated and annotated portfolio with alternative and improved design proposals. [Research]
V&D_8) The student can critically analyse and evaluate research results, design choices, and societal issues, and take and substantiate a well-founded position on these in dialogue with other professionals. [Research, Professionalise]
V&D_9) The student can systematically reflect on their own learning process, performance, and decision-making, and formulate substantiated improvements and next steps based on this. [Professionalise]

Content

Vision & Design
This course is divided in Project 2 and Portfolio 2.

Project 2:
In this phase, you take the lead in shaping future-oriented solutions for complex spatial challenges. You explore trends and developments and transform them into well-founded scenarios and a compelling, user-centered vision.

Building on this, you design and refine a strategy that considers stakeholders and feasibility, and translate it into a concrete, integrated spatial design focused on future-proofing, liveability, and usability.

You critically evaluate your design choices and continuously improve your work. Throughout the process, you collaborate actively, take ownership of both process and outcomes, and work together to create strong, well-supported solutions.

Portfolio 2:
In this phase, you deepen your expertise by learning through design. You tackle complex, real-world challenges and learn how to apply both theoretical and practice-based methods to analyse them in a structured way.

You turn research into action by developing concepts and visualisations, which you present in a portfolio with alternative and improved design proposals. Along the way, you sharpen your critical thinking by evaluating research, design choices, and societal issues, and by confidently taking and defending your position in dialogue with professionals.

At the same time, you focus on your own development: you reflect on your learning process, performance, and decision-making, and use these insights to take purposeful next steps.
