Content
Flexible module: the modules in this area are designed to enable students to create their own personalised learning pathway. During the Intensive Weeks, students can design this pathway themselves by selecting optional modules. In Year 9Ba, it is possible to choose modules from the Higher Professional Education (HBO) Bachelor’s programme in Dance Teaching, enabling students to pursue the Bachelor’s in Dance and the Bachelor’s in Dance Teaching simultaneously from Year 10Ba onwards via the Plus de Deux pathway.
Intensive
An intensive takes place during a week without a timetable. During an intensive, students are immersed in a specific component of Dance (creation) and/or
Musical Theatre (creation). In a short period of time, the student develops the skills associated with this component.
Flex module
Through flex modules, students have the opportunity to deepen or broaden their knowledge. There are two options to choose from: flex module(s) focused on education, or flex module(s) focused on performance. Education flex modules are a prerequisite for admission to the Plus de Deux programme (dual degree).
Flexible learning space
The flexible learning space gives students the opportunity to explore a subject in greater depth or to broaden their horizons. In years 11 and 12, students can propose how this space should be organised as part of a personal plan. Guidance on drafting the Personal Plan is provided within Personal Development (PD). Through a personal plan, students themselves give direction to the ‘Flexible Space’ component by defining goals that address a personal, artistic, achievable and assessable need for their own development, in response to the question: ‘What do I need as an artist to improve?’
In Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11, the Personal Plan serves as a guideline setting out how the Flexible Space is to be utilised. In Year 12, there is also an assessment and reflection by the student on the achievement of these goals.
Martha’s International Programme (MIP)
Through this programme component, students gain an understanding of the international performing arts sector. This is achieved through, amongst other things, intensive courses, exchanges and a study trip. By participating in these activities, students learn to work with international choreographers and collaborate with students from partner institutions. Each academic year, students participate in one international component. See 2.3.3 for a more detailed description and the applicable procedures.
The international components consist of Innovation Workshops, in which students learn and work alongside students from partner institutions, choreographers from the professional field, and lecturers from their own programme and/or partner institutions.
Skills
Within the Skills module, students in years 11Ba and 12Ba have the opportunity to further deepen and broaden their knowledge individually within their chosen professional field. The hours are organised on an individual basis. Within this module, students also receive coaching in putting together their individual Skills Exam. This exam is described in the Higher Professional Education Dance Examination Specification.

DIZO production
In Year 11Ba, students create their own performance as a class. They are jointly responsible for artistic, production and organisational decisions. DIZO production is part of the Examination Programme.
