Content

Dance domain: this domain focuses on mastering the technical components of dance. The Dance Technique domain is divided into a core and a foundation section, with technical mastery being acquired in the foundation section and the core section serving to bridge the gap between technique, the various dance styles and the professional field.

Base

Ballet
Ballet forms the foundation upon which all other dance techniques are built. This also includes the element of pointe work (Ballet Pointe)

Modern Dance
Modern dance technique serves as the foundation for PopTheatreMusicalDance technique, but is also a dance technique in its own right. Modern dance is combined with creative development. Creative development aims to teach students to develop creative works, including the design of choreographies.

Jazz Dance
Jazz Dance serves as the foundation for PopTheatreMusicalDance technique, but is also a standalone dance technique.

Acrodance
Acrodance helps to optimise physical development and acrobatic skills and supports the various dance techniques.

Fusion
In Level 11Ba and Level 12Ba, the Fusion module forms part of the basic dance technique domain. Fusion combines two or more dance styles, each with its own stylistic characteristics. The module trains stylistic sensitivity, as well as freedom in handling and combining stylistic characteristics.

Training sessions
Training sessions are offered in period E during rehearsals for Project Integration. These sessions focus on maintaining basic techniques.

Core

Dance Trends
Dance Trends is a separate module and an independent dance technique based on non-academic dance forms. This module is constantly subject to innovation, trends and change.

PopTheatreMusicalDance (PTMD)
In this module, different dance styles come together and a bridge is built between the various techniques. Here too, students learn to develop creative works, including the design of choreographies.

Theatre Latin Standard Dance (TLSD)
Theatre Latin Standard Dance is a component of ballroom dancing and a collective term for various dances that have evolved from traditional non-academic dance forms. Since the early twentieth century, these dance forms have been standardised into independent dance techniques.

Rhythm/Tap
Tap dance serves as the basis for PTMD, but is also an independent technique. Tap dance is a dance form in which rhythmic sounds are produced with the feet.
