Who is this for?
This elective is for anyone who loves a creative challenge. Musicians, producers, and songwriters will team up to create full productions—one for each Speed Date & Create session. Working against the clock, you’ll collaborate on music that fits a specific concept, revealed at the start of each session.What will you learn?
- In this fast-paced, hands-on elective, you will:
- Develop your ability to think in musical concepts.
- Create effectively and efficiently under time pressure.
- Work in teams and refine your ability to communicate musical ideas.
- Leverage each participant’s unique strengths to craft distinctive pieces of music.
- Train yourself to enter a flow state, deadline = deadline!
- Give and receive constructive feedback to enhance your musical skills.
Content
What to expect?
This is a highly practical, immersive experience. Each session follows this structure:- Briefing: You’ll receive a concept and be tasked with writing, arranging, producing, and designing a track based on it.
- Teamwork: You'll be placed in different production groups each session, where every member takes on a unique role.
- Creation Process: Teams will compose, arrange, sound design, perform, record, produce, and mix their track—all within the session.
- Final Listening Session: At the end of the day, each team presents their work.
- Group Discussion: We’ll reflect on and analyze every team's creation, learning from each other’s approaches.
