Minor Energy & Power Electronics

Programmabeschrijving

This minor is offered in semester 1, starting September

Exploring the intricate world of energy grids, power electronics, and renewable energy systems can truly empower students to address modern energy challenges. This programme focuses on generation, transport, distribution and the control of electrical networks for modern grids and on the electronics needed in high power systems. Things like low voltage grids, high voltage grids, power electronics and EMC are studied. The combination of guest lectures, excursions and hands-on projects in this program is a great way to build both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Everything is approached from the perspective of an electrical engineer.

Leeruitkomsten

Student will learn during the minor all facets of electronic circuits and methods for energy infrastructure, energy networks and modern energy challenges such as solar, wind, batteries and other renewable energy sources. It will include:
  • Designing and analyzing electrical networks and components for modern grids or other applications, such as high-power drive systems.
  • Group projects aimed at practical design solutions.
