1. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, kidneys, liver, intestine and endocrine pancreas.
2. Knowledge of the fat- and glucose metabolism and be able to reason to consequences of metabolic pathologies.
3. Knowledge of blood- O2 and CO2 transport and the regulation of blood pH. Understand the relationship between both systems.
4. Knowledge of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone system (RAAS). Understand the relationship between RAAS, kidney function and the cardiovascular system.
5. Knowledge of hydrostatic and oncotic pressure systems. Understand the relationship between these pressure systems and different organ systems. Be able to reason the consequences of changes in these pressure systems.

Inhoud
In this course we will discuss the pathology of several organ systems. Basic pathology, as discussed in Pathology 1, is assumed to be known. Based on several medical cases, we will discuss the anatomy and (dys)function of the cardiovascular system, respiratory system, liver, kidneys, intestine, and endocrine pancreas.
The course will be finalized by a digital exam. Furthermore, a group assignment is also a compulsory part of the course.
Final grade = 70% exam grade + 30% of group assignment*.
