Inhoud

In the Practice-based Research Course you learn research skills for developing a research-informed approach to professional music practice. When working towards performance or teaching goals several questions may emerge. These might be artistic questions or questions related to psychological or social issues. Practice-based research helps to explore such questions in a systematic way, and to reflect on the relevance of various sources for practice and research.
During semester 1, you learn several research skills: How to look for reliable sources, how to compile an annotated bibliography, developing a research design, designing a Research Poster to communicate plans visually and writing a Research Proposal.
At the end of semester 1 you submit a Research Poster and a Research Proposal. The Research Proposal should contain the following elements: 1) Introduction; 2) Description of Research Aim and Questions; 3) Research Design; 4) Source List.
The Research Proposal facilitates the research process and forms the starting point for the draft research report in semester 3.
There are several Electives you can choose from, based on your needs and study plan.
