Inhoud

Coaching and counselling are two important methods to help individuals change and maintain behaviours that positively affect their health and well-being. This module will introduce some behavioural models and theories related to individual health and well-being. A practical and experiential approach will then be taken to increase students’ understanding of these models and help them translate theoretical knowledge into practice. Students will learn evidence-based coaching and counselling approaches, such as the humanistic, cognitive, positive psychology and integrative approach.

In addition, the module allows students to experience interviewing and explore communication processes in a practical and supervised context. Students will explore the application of the behavioural models and theories presented by coaching or counselling peers in a safe environment (in between classes). The latter will take place in intervision and supervision sessions. The personalized feedback gathered in such sessions is to be used to improve interpersonal competences.

The module could serve as a preparation for any internships or challenges, in which students will likely apply some of the tools learnt in a real-world context, with clients or organizations.
