LILO 1: Identity of the sports professional
The sports professional uses reflection, knowledge and the experiences of others to develop their own professional identity in a systematic manner, and so contributes to their own development and the direct professional environment.

LILO 2: Research and development
The sports professional is inquisitive when it comes to sport and exercise. They work methodically under supervision and take a healthy interest in improving the industry. They ask questions, analyse and interpret research results and conduct applied and design-based research, under supervision, in a given context. They use the knowledge and insights they have gained to develop appropriate sports and exercise products, under supervision.

LILO 3: Coordination, positioning and supervision
The sports professional coordinates, positions and supervises projects and programmes that promote sport and exercise. The sports professional initiates these projects and implements these exercise programmes, in association with others and under supervision, and in doing so is able to implement or coordinate at the tactical and operational levels, depending on what the situation requires.

LILO 4: Leadership, management and organisation
Within a given context, the sports professional independently manages and organises proper business operations and the proper performance of duties, and shows an enterprising attitude while doing so.

LILO 5: Evaluation and advice
The sports professional develops, advises on, implements and evaluates sports and exercise strategies and policies, under supervision. In doing so, the sports professional independently manages the policy cycle with a view to safeguarding and developing the continuity and quality of the sports and exercise products as well as the organisation itself.

Competency Level 2

Inhoud

The complex world of today consists of an enormous amount of challenges and wicked problems. These complex problems are problems that are beyond the scope of any single organisation, both in terms of understanding and response. Additionally, there is often disagreement about the cause of the problems and how to address them. Wicked problems lack clarity in both their aims and solutions and are subject to real-world constraints. This means that risk-free attempts to find a solution are highly unlikely. Within the sport studies program, students will work on challenges and wicked problems and will try to solve a part of the complex issues that exist.

During the challenge, the student focuses on delivering impact in the professional world. The student themself formulates the assignment within the complex problem and also determines (in accordance with the professional field and teacher) which impact will be realized. In practice, the student works on these assignments together with several stakeholders.

The basic principle in carrying out the challenge is that the student is part of a professional environment and behaves accordingly. This professional environment has characteristics of a learning network in which the student, the professional field and supervising teachers play a role. The student names the desired and achieved learning outcomes, in consultation with the teacher and the professional field. Finally, the student takes responsibility and initiative in realizing impact.

In this specific challenge, the students will work in multidisciplinary teams on developing, organizing, executing and evaluating a unique (international) sports event.

In the run-up to the event, during and after the event, the students are busy with different tasks at different levels, including but not limited to the following:

Pre event
coordinating, communicating, finances and budgeting, transportation, accommodations, marketing.

Event
Health and safety, accessibility, stewarding guest, team management, Filming/media (social-media).

Post event
clean up operations, equipment, payments, legacy, impact measurements and a look into the future for the event.

In semester 3, the students will participate in the event at level 2 (tactical and strategic level).
