Inhoud

The world of sports is constantly changing and there is a lot of interest in this sector. The importance of the social value, health value and economic value of sport is becoming increasingly being recognized. As part of the bachelor's degree in Sports Studies of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, we try to prepare students for a rapidly changing field of work by being able to contribute to change, development and innovation which are of great importance for the starting professional. In addition, we see that social tasks in which sport and exercise can make a contribution increasingly require a multidisciplinary approach. Challenges cross policy areas, require collaboration with other disciplines and demand that professionals from different backgrounds learn to speak each other's 'language'. All this with the aim of making optimal use of the power of sport and exercise for society.

In this course, students will use sport as a tool to contribute to a healthy and connected community. Using the Citizen Science (CS) research method, the students will retrieve the question from an environment in order to see where and in what way adjustments can be made in the environment with a view to a healthy and active lifestyle. Keywords in this course are social networks, community building and practice-oriented research.
