Inhoud

We aim that our students become engaged musicians with a reflective, curious and entrepreneurial mindset who can make sound and well-informed decisions for their careers. Within Performance, you will receive individual lessons on your main instrument, and the cross departmental student-led group project from the first semester will continue. This semester through the Project Artistic Synthesis all students will have the opportunity to explore and gather data for their research question and entrepreneurship project.

In consultation with your coaching team, you will prepare for a performance demonstration of your professional practice in progress at the end of the semester in an integral assessment. An Integral Assessment is a summative assessment which takes a holistic look at all elements (Performance, Practice Based Research and Entrepreneurship) of your study as they come together in a single demonstration.

For classical (CLA) students, next to the individual instrumental lessons, students have additional time to be used for activities that are directly related to their main subject/performance lessons. Group lessons take place that are individually tailored to specific instrumental studies.

NYJ students continue working within the lab band where they connect their research to their playing together with fellow students. In the second semester they can use the lab band to gather research data and to try out new approaches. In the master ensemble they play in a large ensemble setting with 1st and 2nd year students. There are several master classes and group lessons in the NY Comes to Groningen programme.

NAIP students continue the modules Leading and Guiding, Performance and Communication and Creative Ensemble. The second semester contains two interdisciplinary projects through which technological and performative skills are developed, as well as skills needed in creating works that have thematic or conceptual threads.

There are several Electives you can choose from, based on your needs and study plan.
