Inhoud

You will learn to give deeper meaning to your work and to connect with others. The course focuses on developing a wide range of professional knowledge and proficiency (technical skills) and on applying these in different musical contexts. At the same time, it focuses on the shaping of musical expression (the creative skills) based on your own artistic vision and aims. These are the essential skills for the development of every musician’s professional practice. The coaches also supervise the development of your ability to reflect on your attitude and working methods as a musician. This is done through the main instrument lessons

For CLA students, in the third semester chamber music/ensemble lessons come into focus, as during the first semester, however now students must take the initiative to form their own ensembles. Ensembles should include both second year and first year students. Second year students are expected to assume leadership roles drawing on the skills learned in their first year.

NYJ students can spend the semester abroad; In NY or through an Erasmus exchange in Europe, depending on the research aim. It is also possible to stay the semester in Groningen to pursue the master programme. For classes abroad students can use the External Lesson Budget.

NAIP, the Creative Ensemble course continues, with the focus now shifting to applying core concepts developed in the first year into the student’s own artistic goals. The student is also now expected to provide leadership within the Creative Ensemble.

The Performance course for this semester will be completed by way of a reflective report.
There are several Electives you can choose from, based on your needs and study plan.
