Inhoud

For anyone who has a basic understanding of music production and wants to delve deeper in the wonderful world of music recording we offer this advanced recording elective.

(For students with no prior studio experience or those primarily interested in basic studio concepts, there is the elective 'Studio Production').

This elective centers around 4 recording sessions in the PCC studios, lasting 3 hours each. The sessions will be prepared for and evaluated in separate 1-hour sessions where we'll discuss which approach would be best to achieve the results you have in mind. You will be immersed in various recording and music production scenarios. We will look at a studio session from different roles and perspectives (e.g. main artist, session musician, arranger, engineer, producer) and will encourage students to work together in the roles that fit them best. In addition to studying the advanced technical aspects of various recording settings, we continually keep the goal (the artistic result) in mind. Different (technical / productional) choices lead to different musical outcomes. We focus on recording & producing the music that the students are most involved in, so (space & time permitting) you can record your own music, working together in teams. With the experience and theory provided during the elective, you will ultimately be able to independently organize studio sessions. Develop a concrete vision on how to best bring out your own or others' music, whether you are a music producer, engineer, session musician, arranger, or composer.
