Inhoud
The elective is aimed at as a choirsinger performing Mahler's 8th symphony in a professional setting. It is a gigantic production with a huge orchestra (120 players), eight top international soloists, double choir and children's choir led by Antony Hermus, widely lauded. Prior to the rehearsals with choir (and orchestra), the conservatoire focuses on how to sing such this piece, music and text analysing, musical notation, 19th-century German musical culture and its spillover into the 20th century, working in large professional productions, and, if required, on marketing, financing and organisation. Focus and culmination remains the performance of this piece.
