Leeruitkomsten
The student:
- analyses the extent to which the office accommodation provided is suitable for the user (organisation), taking into account the organisational, technical, functional, financial, legal and information technology aspects relating to the accommodation.
- Collects, analyses (SPSS) and reports qualitative (including observation) and quantitative (big data) research data relating to the use and performance of the completed premises, based on specific information requirements and accurate (sensor) data
- Advises on what information needs to be collected and which (technical) systems should be used to provide the organisation with the correct information, on the basis of which the performance of the accommodation can be optimised
- Under supervision, draws up a general operational overview, based on a methodical approach, for the property in question
- Investigates the perception and actual performance of facilities and their potential
- Advises on how facilities can make a positive contribution to reducing energy consumption, sustainable accommodation and healthy employees
The student explains how the (previously drawn up) Programme of Requirements has been translated into the delivered design for office accommodation. This explanation must, in any case, address the organisational, technical, financial, legal and IT aspects relating to the accommodation.
The student:
1. Investigates and analyses the requirements regarding the spatial working, living and/or residential environment and provides advice on (new) spatial concepts
2. Contributes, from a facilities management perspective, to the site selection, (re)design and layout of the built environment
3. Identifies the criteria that influence the sustainability of the office environment and describes how sustainability has been incorporated into the design.
4. Justifies all the choices made that have led to the final design and the associated fit-out.
5. Under supervision, and based on a methodical approach, draws up a rough investment budget for the new office accommodation to be realised
6. Identifies key points and highlights the contribution made by all individual project group members
7. Articulates in a clear manner the choices made that have led to the final spatial and functional programme of requirements
8. Is able to critically reflect on the process relating to the development of the final spatial and functional programme of requirements and identifies areas for improvement

Inhoud
Each project group analyses a simple existing building to assess its suitability for its user (organisation). Information gathered during the assignments for Space Management & Technology and for Financial & Information Management is brought together in an analysis that focuses on the building’s added value for its users. This analysis covers, at a minimum: space utilisation; relationships between functions and spaces; functionality; legal aspects (e.g. ownership and liability); and financial aspects (particularly costs of ownership and use). A dashboard that clearly displays the building’s performance in these areas is a key outcome of this analysis.
This part of the semester focuses on designing an innovative office.
Following a practice assignment (model workshop), each project group will work on creating a new office environment for an organisation of their choice. Everything the student has already learnt and will learn during this period about offices (such as workstations, indoor environment, sustainability, safety, etc.) will come in handy here. First, a functional, spatial and relational Programme of Requirements is drawn up (separate component). Based on the Programme of Requirements, a design is then developed with floor plans and perspective drawings (3D visualisation) for both the building layout and interior design, accompanied by a clear justification of the design choices made (how the requirements have been translated into the design) and a rough estimate of the investment required to realise the design.
Finally, each student is able to answer questions individually regarding the new design. What are the highlights and key points? You explain the choices made for the spatial and functional programme. You critically reflect on the Programme of Requirements and identify areas for improvement.
