Content
In this course, students will learn how to find existing solutions and/or best practices of design patterns. The goal of this course is for students to have a Design Research mindset: “What does product 'X’ need to achieve experience ‘Y’?
This course consists of two lines: Ethics and Research. Students will have classes on both subjects. After these classes, every design decision a student makes should have an ethical check, students have learned how to think from a problem space and use research techniques to get to a solution space.
The product of this course is a concept redesign of an existing digital product (game, app, website) in order to improve its design on an ethical basis. The student will conduct their own research in order to fully understand the ethical implications of this redesign. Conducted research and resulting concept images are described in a final report.
