Learning outcomes
After finishing this module the student:
- does engineering calculations on load carrying constructions
- does engineering calculations on several connections types
- does calculations on shafts, including fatigue and safety factors
- does calculations on stiffness and play
- does calculations on torque, velocity and power
- explains differences between transmission types and does engineering calculations on these
- does engineering calculations on bearings
- makes technical sketches (dimetric, isometric) and 3D piping models
Content
The 4 EC module Design and Engineering II builds upon Design and Engineering I. After finishing this module students are able to develop a conceptual design in a systematic way. The following topics are addressed in engineering a conceptual design: load carrying constructions, connections, shafts, fatigue, safety factors, stiffness and play, torque, velocity, power, transmissions, bearings. Also technical sketches (dimetric, isometric) and 3D piping are covered topics.
