Content

• The student learns to manipulate melody, harmony and rhythm in relation to form and orchestration in an arrangement.
• The student learns to write scores and parts for string quartet, string quartet with rhythm section, a mixture of brass and woodwinds with rhythm section, small big band and big band.
• Basic techniques are reviewed harmonizing lines from 2 to 5 voices.
• The student learns the range and transposition of brass, woodwind and string instruments.
• The student acquires the basic knowledge for writing for piano, bass and drums.
• The student will gain experience in writing arrangements for various ensembles in the Groningen area.
