Learning outcomes
- You will make a representative cervical preparation using the cytospin, implement changes in the protocol of PAP staining and discuss the effect of these changes on the results compared to the standard procedure, thus gaining insight into important steps in the staining process and techniques in cervical cytology.
- You will cut sections of paraffin blocks with a microtome and determine the origin of tumor tissue using histochemical and immunological staining as an important basis for the field of cytology and pathology.
- You will work out results from the flow cytometer and May-Grünwald Giemsa staining of various B and T cell experiments and relate the results to each other.
Content
In this module you will learn important techniques from the field of histopathology and cytology. In this field, it is important to practice a lot with making, viewing and evaluating specimens and tissues. Here you will look in specimens to see if tumor cells are present. You will also learn the importance and significance of various histochemical and immunological stains
