Learning outcomes
In this project you work in a couple (sometimes more) on a specific research project, preferably from a client (a research center of the Hanze or a company)
Module learning outcomes:
Before starting a project, you describe the current situation regarding the project assignment: what do you know and what you do not know.
Explain the goals that you and the group want to achieve and make an realistic planning for this within certain boundaries (Plan of Approach: time, budget, infrastructure, knowledge, etc.).
Adequately execute the research project in the laboratory (practical work)
Communicate your results with the client/teacher (work discussions, full report, poster, presentation).
Content
Within the Research project of Medical Biology, the emphasis is on working with cells in tissue cultures, linked to cancer research, but project linked to medical microbiology or linked to immunology are executed. Various cell culture techniques, (molecular) techniques and other methods will be used.
Students will work on (ongoing) research project linked to the Knowledge Center Biobased Economy, Center of Expertise Energy, Innovation Centers or Companies. A variety of project will be available, which will be presented shortly before the start of the module.
In total 18 days of Laboratory days are scheduled, beside the theoretical aspects of research (literature research, preparation of experiments, elaboration of results) which is done outside the laboratory.
Students will be assessed based on their practical skills, on a research report and a poster and a presentation.
