Course: Science Philosophy and Ethics credits: 5

The Ethics component, as an elective module, focuses on the first and possibly second year and gives hands on learning outcomes at level one: Students are able to recognise and name ethical dilemmas from their own professional practice. The Ethics elective module covers 56 hours, to be used for workshops and group assignments. The aim of the elective module is to provide students with an understanding of what ethical dilemmas are, how to recognise them and how to get to grips with ethical dilemmas in their own professional field.

The Philosophy of Science component covers 3 ECTS. In it, some of the most important fundamental topics are covered, such as deduction versus induction and the demarcation problem, but attention will also be paid to syllogisms (logic according to Aristotle). This is summarized in the following learning outcome that will be tested at level one: You have an understanding of the foundation of the philosophy of science and recognize and apply some principles of Aristotle's formal logic.
