Learning outcomes
This module has the following learning outcomes:
You name the structure and function of the different organ systems in mammals, correctly dissect a rat and point out the organs to learn mammalian anatomy and physiology.
You name the different parts of a microscope and explain their function and build routine in microscopy by using the main microscopic techniques to study tissues.
You make overview and detail drawings of histological preparations of the four different types of tissues and different organs according to drawing rules and display them in a portfolio arranged by organ system to correctly process microscopic images.
You collaborate effectively and record agreements verifiably to deliver a multimedia group product on a case you have worked on from the anatomy, physiology and histology of the organ systems involved for social, communication and information skills.

Content
In this module, you will be introduced to the anatomy, histology and physiology of the human body. You will do this in the laboratory through various practicals on anatomy and physiology. The practicals in the laboratory room are surrounded by scheduled seminars in which one organ system is dealt with from a case study and/or assignments. Histology preparations are also examined under the microscope and drawn. You process the drawings and completed assignments in an individual portfolio. At the end of the module, you and your fellow group members present a case study in which the anatomy, physiology and histology of the relevant organ systems are visualised and explained.
