Learning outcomes

In this course students learn to analyse their own instrumental repertoire and how to practically apply this analysis in their interpretation as a performer.

Content

The teacher leads the students in applying analysis strategies they have learned in CTS and Analysis to pieces from their own repertoire which they bring to the class. Students share their piece with each other and the teacher beforehand, including possible specifics they would like to dive in more deeply (harmony, form, a specific moment, etc.). Different from the regular CTS/Analysis classes, students bring their own repertoire instead of the teacher deciding the course’s content. Repertoire of any style period and ensemble type can be used: solo pieces, chamber music, orchestra works, etc.; preferably pieces the student is actively working on playing (for main subject/artistiek profiel, chamber music, choir or orchestra projects, etc.) so the analysis can be directly applied.
