Competences

  • Artistic creation
  • Research & Reflection

Level 2: Deepening & Enriching
A sufficient level is achieved when students deliberately choose their own solutions for problems or assignments with a divergent nature, and when they demonstrate the ability to employ relevant competences, skill, and knowledge in doing so, based on research and experiment.

Learning Outcomes
LO 2: Investigate
The student develops an artistic and conceptual approach through an increasingly independent and focused process of making, reflecting, and researching, in which relevant sources, references, and contexts are examined, and first artistic concepts and propositions are articulated.

LO 3: Materialise
As part of an increasingly independent artistic process, the student purposefully engages with material, form, intuition, reflection, and contemplation, and investigates the qualities and possibilities of different materials, techniques and technologies, showing a gradual awareness of how these shape the development and meaning of their work.

Inhoud

In Labs 5, students further deepen their engagement with materiality, media, and technology by applying their knowledge and skills in a more independent and purposeful manner.

Starting from their own artistic questions, students select and investigate specific materials, techniques or domains in depth. Through iterative experimentation, they refine their ability to translate conceptual intentions into material and technical processes, and to critically evaluate the outcomes.

The Labs programme continues to function as a catalyst for Studio, supporting the development of a coherent artistic practice through material exploration. Students increasingly integrate technical decisions into their broader artistic strategies.

Working alongside students from different year levels, they engage in exchange and peer learning, contributing to a dynamic and collaborative workshop environment. Guidance by specialists supports both technical refinement and experimental approaches.

The Theory component addresses advanced material practices, technological developments and sustainability, enabling students to make informed, critical and responsible choices within contemporary artistic contexts.

The Labs 5 programme is offered jointly with second-year students (Labs 3).
